Tree trimming and pruning

Good pruning keeps a tree healthy and keeps branches off your roof, gutters, and lines. We cut with the tree’s structure in mind, not just to make it smaller.

January averages about 28°F in the Canton area, and snow and ice season runs December through March.

Common reasons to trim

Clearance

Branches touching roofs, siding, or gutters.

Deadwood

Dead limbs that can drop.

Structure

Guiding young trees and easing heavy, crowded limbs.

Views and light

Opening up a yard or window.

How we approach it

Clean cuts, made at the right spot on the branch.
Conservative thinning. We don’t strip a canopy.
Oaks. Ohio State University guidance is to avoid pruning oaks from April 15 to October 15 (oak wilt), with exceptions for storm damage and hazard trees. We’ll flag this in the estimate when it applies.
Branches near power lines are not something to handle yourself. Send the photo and we’ll talk it through in the estimate.
